Stephanie Mangun: Sunday School Superintendent

Picture
I've taught Sunday School at different levels here at New Harvest for several years now. I started teaching the 2- and 3-year-old's at my church in Indianapolis. After I came back here, God said my place was with the kids, so I started working with Children's Church and substitute teaching for our early elementary teacher. When the need arose, I began teaching one of the Adult Sunday School classes. When the teacher left that I had filled in for, I took over her class. This is my first year as Sunday School Superintendent, and I have big shoes to fill! I am very excited, though, to help our Sunday School department grow and move forward. Sunday School is not just for kids!! We have 3 different classes available for adults, as well as classes for teens on down to the nursery department. The old-timers used to call the Sunday morning service the "after-service", because the real training was done first in Sunday School. So come join us at 9:30 for in-depth Bible study and fellowship, no matter what your age...And stay for the "after-service", too!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
It's hard to believe it's December already! There is so much going on this month for children and adults alike. Today we had our Secret Sister luncheon, where we reveal who our sister was for the year. The food was wonderful and the fellowship even better. The fellowship is what makes belonging to a church family so great. We're all brothers and sisters in Christ. Coming to Sunday School helps form those bonds that can last a lifetime. Our kids are working hard on their Christmas program. They will be presenting a dinner theater on Saturday, Dec 17th and Sunday, Dec 18th, both at 5 PM. There will be a free will offering for the dinner. Our painter elves have been busy with the facelifts in the Sunday School rooms and have just about completed the 4th one. They all look so fun and inviting! It's a busy time, but please make time to come to Sunday School and learn more about why we celebrate Christmas. God gave us the greatest gift of all in His Son, Jesus Christ. As our hostess, Joyce, said this afternoon, we don't usually leave our presents under the tree, still wrapped. God wants us to unwrap and enjoy all the wonders He has done for us!

MY CAR IS IN THE GARAGE!

That may not sound like much to you, but you haven't seen my garage! It has been in dire need of some SERIOUS de-cluttering for a long, long time now. What does this have to do with Sunday School, you ask? Most of us have some "de-cluttering" to do in our lives. We need to weed out the unimportant and make time for the things that will last. I'm sad to see so many kids' sports activities on Sundays now - and not even in the afternoon after church, but many start at 10 am or so. Not everyone goes to church, but the world used to recognize its importance to those of us who do. Studying God's Word is one of those things that lasts a lifetime. Pray about making time, not just for a quick visit to your local Sunday service, but to come to Sunday School and dig deep into what God has for us in the Bible. I know that in this day many have to work on Sundays, so we also offer a variety of classes on Wednesday nights at 7 PM as well.
